5-Star Rating System for a better shopping experience!

ASSISTECH has just introduced a new rating service which allows our customers to read and write product reviews for items they have purchased from us.

The so-called Five-Star Rating System resembles the one used by Amazon.com, through which shoppers can rate an item in various categories (e.g., product quality, easy of use, etc.) The reviewer can also write comments in the space provided about their experience as a consumer. Find out more...

There will be a prize drawing for customers who submit a product review by December 31. See details under "Special Prize".

A Bulletin Board for People with Disabilities

Adding to our plethora of new services is a new Bulletin Board designed for people with disabilities and special needs so they can discuss topics of their interest. The BB has been organized by disability type and under each type you will find five topics that have been initially posted for discussion. We encourage everyone to participate by posting questions and/or comments on the BB. Suggestions for new topics are greatly appreciated. If you have a story or article you would like to contribute, you may post it on the Bulletin Board. There is also a Suggestion Box to help improve our Newsletter. Check out the BB!

Other Services: Daily horoscopes, a Guestmap (where you can pin your geographical location) and a banner link to Today Specials have been added on each page.

Delta Open House a Success

The Delta Open House last November 17 was a big success. Interested patients had an opportunity to try the Delta hearing aids, get an answer to their questions, and have their hearing tested by Larry Roberts, our Hearing Aid Specialist. Ron Miller was present at the event, representing Oticon, the company who makes the Delta. The Delta is a new concept in hearing aids. It was featured in a recent article in The New York Times. All patients, without an exception, seemed to be impressed with the Delta. Similar events will take place in the near future. Stay tuned!

5 Steps to Protect your Eyesight

  • Have your eyes checked every 1 or 2 years by an eye care professional. This can be an ophthalmologist or optometrist. He or she should put drops in your eyes to enlarge (dilate) your pupils. This is the only way to find some eye diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, that have no early signs or symptoms. If you wear glasses, they should be checked too.

  • Find out if you are at high risk for eye disease. Are you over age 65? Are you African American and over age 40? Do you or people in your family have diabetes or eye disease? If so, you need to have a dilated eye exam.

  • Have regular physical exams to check for diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. These diseases can cause eye problems if not treated.

  • See an eye care professional right away if you suddenly cannot see or everything looks dim or if you see flashes of light. Also see an eye care professional if you have eye pain, fluid coming from the eye, double vision, redness, or swelling of your eye or eyelid.

  • Wear sunglasses that block ultraviolet (UV) radiation and a hat with a wide brim when outside. This will protect your eyes from too much sunlight, which can raise your risk of getting cataracts.
